For the first time since launching in 2019, we’ve introduced an in-app subscription so that you can stay protected against phishing attacks and malicious web content as you browse the web. It’s called Trustd Plus, and you can subscribe to it from inside the Trustd app.
Safe Browsing is the first feature we’re including in Trustd Plus, and it’s available to both iOS and Android users. Safe Browsing is the same enterprise-grade available to customers of our business threat solution – Trustd MTD, and we’re offering it to consumers to upgrade their on-device security for a low monthly subscription.
The introduction of premium features via Trustd Plus is a first for us, but we’re still the privacy-first company you know and love. There is still no tracking and no ads in our app, and no cost for all the original Trustd app features.
What is Safe Browsing and how does it protect you?
Mobile phishing attacks are on the rise (in fact, they increased 700% in the first half of last year). There’s smishing, vishing, phishing over social media and email, and there’s also phishing content on the web that lures you to download a malicious app or enter your private details into a form.
The free Trustd app protects you against phishing by scanning phishing links from text messages, email apps, productivity and messaging apps like Slack, WhatsApp, Skype and social media – blocking the link from opening.
Safe Browsing in Trustd Plus detects and blocks fake and malicious websites while users browse the web from any app. Which means a deeper layer of protection – Safe Browsing would detect malicious web sites such as those used in the Dracarys and Malibot malware campaigns, preventing users from accessing the sites before they could download the infected app. In phishing attacks that present forms that send sensitive data back to the attackers, Safe Browsing would block those web pages from opening before a victim can enter any personal information.
